ANNIE GET YOUR GUN is set in the late 1800s and revolves around the set of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, as it tells "the tempestuous and romantic story of Annie Oakley and Frank Butler." This show-within-a-show" format, coupled with the Irving Berlin standards, makes this show a favorite in the world of musical theater.

2006 marks the 60th anniversary of the original show. We will be presenting the 1999 Peter Stone adaptation. LCP presented the original version of the show exactly 30 years ago in 1976, with Carol Young in the role of Annie Oakley and Steve Hall directing.

This updated version retains all of the amazing Irving Berlin songs including Anything You Can Do, Doin' What Comes Naturally, and of course There's No Business Like Show Business. According to Time magazine the updated book "has been updated in ways that pass politically-correct muster, without losing all the fun."

ANNIE GET YOUR GUN comes with a considerable pedigree: originally produced by Rodgers & Hammerstein, book by Herbert & Dorothy Fields, music and lyrics by Irving Berlin. Ethel Merman created the title role on Broadway. More recent Annie Oakleys include Bernadette Peters and Reba MacIntyre.

Director Patty Eisenman admits she hasn't directed a show "that isn't The Sound of Music" since 1986. Twenty years is long enough, and the show's the thing! Producer Dean Burnell and Music Director Deidre Tascarella join Patty in looking for a versatile and enthusiastic cast for this great American Classic.
