Gayle Steele and Producer Roger Hamel have been busy preparing for this year
's production! Roger is a current LCP Board Member, and is often involved on
stage and off. He has most recently been seen on stage in this spring's
"Don't Drink The Water." He has produced the last three "Holiday
Nights At The Opera House," as well as last year's "Noises Off."
Gayle returns to direct "The Sound Of Music" for the second year.
Gayle has also appeared on the Opera House stage in LCP's 1999 production of
"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." Gayle spent several
years as a pop singer in Philadelphia and Washington, after which time she was
approached to be the first female vocalist in the Navy Music Program. Accepting
the position she spent the next 20 years attached to the United States Naval
Academy Band as the "Navy's First Lady of Song". Upon retirement from
the Navy she accepted the position of General Music Teacher at a private school
in Annapolis. Gayle worked as musical director with local youth theater groups
for the many performances that they put on yearly. Says Gayle, "I am happy
to be returning to direct this year's 'The Sound of Music.' I look forward to
another successful production!" Gayle and Roger are happy to announce that
returning as well is Betty Lou Blowers, as accompanist for the production.
"Betty Lou is an extremely talented and creative musician, and we are very
lucky to have her once again!" says Gayle.
