THE
classic American musical comes to our classic Vermont opera house.
Set in
a Western territory soon to become a state, the high-spirited rivalry between
the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which
Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love
story. This Rodgers and Hammerstein
musical has set the standards
of musical theater, featuring such songs as "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin',"
"The Surrey With the Fringe on Top," and of course the title song,
"Oklahoma!"
Rebecca
Brown makes her LCP directorial debut with this show. Rebecca has directed
several shows at Peoples Academy, including the recent productions of "The
King and I" and "The Wizard Of Oz."
She has been seen on the Opera House
stage as well, in 2000's production of "Harvey" as Elwood's
sister, Veta Louise.
Rebecca
teams with long-time LCP Producer Ida Mae Anderson and Music Director
Lisa Jablow, returning for her second summer show: Lisa directed the
music for "The Mikado" as well.
